Scientific notes & limits
Mitotic chromosome diagrams show condensed, duplicated DNA (sister chromatids) joined at a centromere, with protective telomeres at the ends. Arm labels (p/q) are conventional teaching shorthand. Chromatin packaging material and countable chromosome units are related but not identical language.
